Students are generally allowed to work on their seminar, term, master’s and doctoral papers with AI support. This applies in particular to linguistic improvement or stylistic revision.

It is important that the use of AI is made transparent:

This approach preserves the scientific contribution of the author and documents the responsible use of new technologies.

Second meeting of the working group "German in Bosnia and Herzegovina"

On July 10, 2026, the second meeting of the working group was held as part of the project “German in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Communicative Constellations with the German Language in BiH”.

The meeting focused on five expert presentations in which current research approaches to different manifestations of the German language in Bosnia and Herzegovina were presented and discussed. The presentations addressed topics such as code-switching, “Fernsehekinder” as a specific form of spontaneous German language acquisition through intensive television viewing, the use of German on Instagram in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as other possible integrative research approaches. Particular attention was paid to considering the possibility of bringing these topics together within the broader research paradigm “Language Y in Country X”, which would enable the systematic study of conceptualizations of the foreign in various countries and different linguistic communities.

During the meeting, directions for the further development of the project, shared research questions, methodological approaches, and forms of future cooperation among the members of the research group were agreed upon.

The meeting represented an important step in the further scholarly coordination of the project and contributed to defining shared research goals and developing an interdisciplinary approach to studying the concept of “deutsch” in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We would like to inform you that, as part of the 17th Days of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a special program titled “AI Across Disciplines” will be held. The event is free of charge, open to all interested participants, and no registration is required. The program covers applications of artificial intelligence in medicine, science, education, business, creativity, and public life. We warmly invite everyone interested to attend, especially on June 6, when German linguistics will also be represented in the program.

For the purpose of merging multiple PDF documents into one or extracting individual pages from a PDF, I developed the easyPDFwork application, which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store.

I am currently researching the development of small AI models specialized for linguistic research, e.g. for MA theses or doctoral dissertations. I am also engaged in the didactic development of specialized AI models in university teaching.

On May 21, 2025, the first working meeting of the project group was held at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo together with the universities of Sarajevo, Mostar, Tuzla, Zenica, the Institute for the German Language in Mannheim and the Technical University of Dresden, with active participation of German studies students. Participants presented initial research, questions and methods for the project "German in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Communicative Constellations with the German Language in BiH". On my LinkedInLinkedIn profile, I publish elements of a linguistic analysis of reporting on the Palestine–Israel conflict based on more than 7,500 texts from the German weeklies "Der Spiegel" and "Die Zeit" from 1947 to today. With selected quantitative analyses – and later qualitative ones – I aim to show the dynamics of this discourse in the German public. I also offer possible interpretations of the charts.
